Tell your senator: support renewable energy in New Mexico
New Mexico is the second sunniest state in the country and twelfth windiest. We should be a national leader in renewable energy, yet we lag behind states like New Jersey, Massachusetts and Kansas.
Environment New Mexico, with our partners, is leading the charge to increase our Renewable Energy Standard so that large utilities get 80 percent of their electricity from solar, wind and geothermal energy by 2040. The bill, SB312, is sponsored by Sen. Mimi Stewart of Albuquerque and Rep. Nathan Small from Dona Aña County.
Email your state senator and ask him or her to support increasing renewable energy in the Land of Enchantment. Please add a personal statement to the email, especially at the beginning.
